Rachel was appointed as Town Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer in June 2020. She has worked in the Town and Parish Council sector for 14 years and holds the CiLCA qualification, the Certificate of Higher Education and Foundation Degree in Community Governance. She is responsible for the overall financial and administrative management of the running of the town council and provides support and guidance to members on policy, legal and procedural issues. Rachel lives in Mid Devon with her family, having relocated from South Devon for the role.

She enjoys regular visits to South Devon beaches, being around friends and family, and drinking copious amounts of tea and coffee.

Deputy Clerk: Emma Anderson
Email: e.anderson@crediton.gov.uk

Emma has been part of the team since 2014 and is CiLCA qualified. Emma oversees the Community & Environment Committee. The role involves managing council-owned land and property, tenders/contracts, day-to-day finances and providing administrative support to the Youth Work Team. Emma produces our bi-monthly newsletter and coordinates the annual floral displays.

Crediton holds a special place in Emma’s heart, as the place she got married and the home of her first business venture, and she is now working in a role connected directly to the community. Emma lives in Crediton with her husband and two children and enjoys baking cakes, exploring the countryside, and snuggling up for a movie with her family.

Administrative Officer:
Emily Armitage

e.armitage@crediton.gov.uk

Emily has been at the Town Council on a part-time basis since January 2018 and holds a qualification in the Introduction to Local Council Administration (ILCA). Her role involves meeting and greeting visitors to the offices, as well as responding to all council enquiries by phone and email, overseeing the three allotment sites, clerking three committees – Planning & Town Strategy, Grants and Parish Paths, and other general admin tasks.

Emily lives outside Crediton with her husband and two children, has an artistic background, enjoys horse riding and playing netball and is also a qualified umpire.

Events & Projects Officer:
Jo Davey

Jo joined the team in 2023, having left her job as a primary school teacher to raise her two young children. She organises events such as Christmas in Crediton and Remembrance Sunday, while also working on building projects. Her role involves a lot of meetings and paperwork, but the best bit is meeting and listening to Kirtonians about what they want for their town.

Jo lives in Crediton with her family and enjoys sewing and repurposing second hand treasures. She also helps to run BAPS, the breastfeeding and parent support group in Old Landscore School.
